WKAR-TV PLEDGE DRIVE, MARCH 1-18, FEATURES LIVE ERIC VILLEGAS COOKING MARATHON

WKAR-TV will kick off its annual March on-air membership campaign Thursday, March 1. The event will continue through March 18, combining new and encore programming. Viewers may phone in pledges during programming airing during the campaign or pledge online at WKAR.org.

Among the highlights of the 18-day event is the first Best of Fork in the Road with Eric Villegas cooking marathon. Villegas, host of Fork in the Road (seen Saturdays at 9:30 a.m.) and owner of Restaurant Villegas in Okemos, will prepare a variety of delectable dishes live in WKAR's studios on Saturday, March 3, at 9 a.m. (The Fork in the Road Cooking Marathon will be repeated Saturday, March 17, at 9 a.m.)

Villegas is known for offering recipes that celebrate the diversity of Michigan's seasonal cooking ingredients and discovering unique combinations that create delicious dishes. His weekly show, seen Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. on WKAR-TV, often finds him visiting farm markets, orchards, or others who create some of Michigan's most unique products.

The cooking marathon will feature both dishes prepared in WKAR's studios and video roll-ins from the program, taking viewers to meet those who are responsible for delicious crops and delicacies that make their way to your table.

Among the recipes tentatively scheduled to be included are a cheese fondue with hard apple cider, Alfonsito's Freshwater Whitefish Ceviche, a coffee glaze to be served over roasted steak, Eric's hickory smoked tomato salsa, spicy chicken wings with a Maytag blue cheese sauce, popcorn shrimp, and several others.

Don't miss this special opportunity to learn some great recipes and cooking tips from a pro!

Hey Eric. I love the show. I am a cook at an upscale restaurant in the Flint area and I just want to let you know that your show has inspired me to encourage our management to work in many Michigan ingredients and me personally to seek out the freshest local stuff for myself and my friends and family. Please keep it up and let me know if there is ever any way that I can get more involved. Thanks.

Hi, I really enjoy your show. Have you done an episode on chili, You know American chili with beans and ground sirloin? I'm a little tired of the Carrol Shelby packets I use lol.

Hi Eric. Jon and I were so saddened to hear about the closing of our "favorite" Michigan Restaurant and fine food eatery. We miss our local watering hole in MI. We are in AZ and missing you all.

We were home for a week and I got to watch your show, you made fruit pizza and visited the honey farm. I miss you in AZ.

Just wondered what you will/are doing now.

Please visit us in AZ if you are in town.

Let us know how we can connect. Good Luck.
    fondly,
Diehard fans of you and Villegas Restaurant

    Hey Debbie,

Contact your local PBS station in Az. and tell 'em you need Fork in the Road. We are available to them through NETA.
Say hi to Jon and don't run over any more racoons.
